Mercedes Benz India sales touch a new high in 2015, up 32.4 percent

Mercedes Benz India 2015 sales record

Sales exceed 13,000 mark for the first time in history.

Mercedes Benz India sales stood at 10,201 units to report 13 percent sales growth (2013 sales at 9,003 units). 2015 sales growth stands at 32.4 percent to establish strong, and sustainable double digit growth, reveals the company. Mercedes-Benz India hasn’t yet announced yearly sales but that number roughly equates to 13,506 units to report Q4 sales at a little over 3,400 units.

Mercedes-Benz India January – September 2015 sales (Q1 + Q2 + Q3) stood at 10,079, which was almost as much as full year sales the previous year. An entire quarter to improve performance and increased sales momentum gave the luxury automaker plenty of time to strengthen sales performance through October – December 2015 (Q4).

2015 saw the automaker leave no stone unturned having announced 15 car launches through 12 months. Mercedes-Benz India continues to expand it’s footprint in the country through timely dealership expansion. On last count, Mercedes-Benz India reported the densest luxury car manufacturer network here through 81 dealerships spread across 40 cities.

Dealership network expansion has seen Mercedes-Benz India tap into markets in smaller cities. Last month, the company inaugurated Berkeley Motors in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, it’s 13th dealership for the year. Mercedes-Benz sales growth in Uttarakhand was reported at above 50 percent for January – November 2015. Through Jan – Sep 2015, the company reported 60 percent sales growth in the Madhya Pradesh market.

Last month organizational changes were announced in the company’s after-sales and marketing verticals. Devdutta Chandavarkar, current VP After Sales and Member of Board of Management moves on as Director, After-Sales at Mercedes-Benz Middle East and Levant (MBMEL) in Dubai. Santosh Iyer, VP Marketing and CRM and Member of Board of Management is heading After-Sales division wef January 1, 2016.

Globally, Mercedes-Benz sold 1,871,511 vehicles through 2015, up 13.4 percent. December sales were formidable at 178,017 units. October – December 2015 (Q4) sales stood at 495,159 units to seal the company’s best ever quarter.
