Mercedes Concept IAA debuts at 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (LIVE Photos)

Touted as aerodynamics world champion, with a drag co-efficient Cd value of just 0.19, the new four door design concept features a newly developed hybrid system. Mercedes Concept IAA automatically adapts its shape once the car touches speed of 80 kmph. From design centric approach, the car then adapts aerodynamic approach.

This is achieved thanks to the active electric aero panels which are located at the front and rear of the car. On sensing that the car has crossed 80 kmph, these panels protrude out in such a way, that the Cd value of the car drops to 0.19, making the car more aerodynamic. At the same time, the length of the car also increases by 390 mm.

Featuring the S Class and S Coupe inspired design lines, the Concept IAA previews future luxury cars from the Stuttgart based luxury car maker. These includes the CLS Class as well as the S Class.

Mercedes Concept IAA features bodyparts which help the car become more aerodynamic on the go, adapting automatically to increasing speed.

Speaking about its interiors, the Concept IAA features for independent seats. Quality of interiors is top notch, as good as the S Class and S Coupe of current generation. On the dashboard there are four circular air vents, gesture control pads and a huge display. Apart from this, there are two displays, one showing engine data, while the other shows climate inside the cabin.

Powering the Mercedes Concept IAA is a new petrol-electric plug-in hybrid system. Though not much details are revealed as to how much power is generated, Mercedes did confirm that it has a top speed of 250 kmph and an all-electric range of 32 km.
