MG Comet EV is confirmed to offer a maximum range of 230 km on single charge – prices start from Rs 7.98 lakh, ex-sh
MG Motor has launched the Comet EV in India today. Though featuring a boxy design, the MG Comet looks very distinct. MG Comet measures 2,974mm in length, 1,505 mm in width and 1,640mm in height. It rides on a 2,010mm long wheelbase and gets a turning radius of 4.2 meters.
It is being presented in monotone colour options of Starry Black, Candy White and Aurora Silver while it also receives dual tones of Apple Green and Starry Black and Candy White with Starry Black. Body graphics and stickers are options given to each individual buyer. Comet EV does not really find any direct rival in Indian market, but has Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3 as closes competitors.
MG Comet EV Prices
MG Comet EV Prices start from Rs 7.98 lakh, ex-sh, making it the most affordable electric car in India. Bookings will open on 15th May 2023. Deliveries will start soon after. Test drives are now available at company dealership, in select cities where the MG Comet EV has gone on sale.
The 2 door MG Comet EV sports a stubby front fascia with massive bumpers. It receives a wraparound strip with LED lighting elements positioned under the windscreen, sleek headlamps and square tail lamps with an LED bar. It gets larger doors and an additional rear window for passengers which can be positioned vertically but which will be narrow due to the lack of a rear door. MG Comet EV rides on 12 inch steel wheels fitted with tire size of 145/70. Design elements to the rear include the ‘Comet’ lettering in the center of the deck lid along with ‘Internet Inside’ and ‘EV’ badging on the right and left side of the boot respectively.
Sporting advanced features and infotainment along with a list of safety equipment, the MG Comet comes in with all the necessary driver and passenger comforts. It receives two 10.25 inch screens out of which one is an infotainment system while the other is a digital instrument cluster. MG Connected Car Technology with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and over 55 connected car features offer users access to weather updates, turn by turn navigation along with real time traffic updates, music, etc.
Seating is in a 50:50 split rear seat format and the MG Comet also sports a two spoke steering wheel with steering mounted controls. Manual air conditioning, keyless entry, push button start and digital key are among its other features. Safety is via dual airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, rear parking sensors with camera, ISOFIX child seat mounts, ABS and EBD.

With the production of MG Comet having commenced at the company plant in Halol, Gujarat, deliveries will start soon. The electric small car will come in with a 17.3kWh battery pack with a 42 hp power and 110 Nm torque electric motor to offer a claimed range of 230km.
The MG Comet can be charged via a 3.3 kW charger in 5 hours from 10-80 percent and in 7 hours from 0-100 percent. Braking and suspension are via disc and drum brakes at the front and rear respectively along with McPherson strut in the front and multi-link coil suspension at the rear.
