At the time of launch last week, MG India had revealed that their booking numbers were at 10k units. In just 4 days, that number has crossed another 2,000. Total bookings now have crossed the 12,000 mark. The task at hand for MG India is to deliver the Hector to their customers as soon as possible. Deliveries of MG Hector have started across India. One of the first owners of MG Hector is Mr Amit Pahwa, who took delivery of a white Hector yesterday.
Thanks to more than expected booking numbers, MG Hector waiting period has now touched the 4 month mark for select variant in certain cities. MG Hector is presented in four variants of Style, Super, Smart and Sharp and exciting exterior color options of Starry Black, Colored Glaze Red, Burgundy Red, Aurora Silver and Candy White. It measures 4,655 mm in length, 1,835 mm in width and 1760 mm in height with its wheelbase measuring 2,750 mm and gets several first in segment features.
These include full LED lighting along with projector headlamps and fog lamps, 360 degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, electrically adjustable seating and a powered tail gate. It also gets heated ORVMs, ambient lighting with 8 colors, 3 point seatbelts, fatigue reminder system and internet connectivity making it possible for MG Motors to offer over-the-air software updates.
The 10.4” touchscreen is the largest in its segment. It gets vertically stacked and offers access to over 50 iSmart connectivity features. It is also fitted with built in satellite navigation system and offers weather updates among other features. The iSmart system also allows users to remotely access various functions like switching on and off the AC or opening and closing the sunroof. Another first in class feature is the 360 decree camera which uses multiple cameras offering a bird’s eye view of the SUV easy parking.
Even as the new safety regulations have made rear parking sensors mandatory, MG Motors is offering front parking sensors as well – as another segment first feature. MG Hector is the only car in its segment offering powered front seats. Most cars in this segment only offer electrically adjustable driver seat but this new SUV comes in with four way powered passenger seats as well.
MG Hector is also the first in its segment to get a 48V mild hybrid system. It gets powered by three engine options. The 1.5 liter turbocharged intercooled petrol engine offers 143 PS power and 250 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed manual and 6 speed DCT. The 1.5 liter hybrid turbocharged intercooled petrol motor makes 143 PS and 250 Nm of torque while the 2.0 liter turbocharged diesel powertrain is capable of 170 PS and 350 Nm of torque. Both these engines get mated to a 6 speed manual transmission. Fuel efficiency stands at 14.16 kmpl for petrol manual variant, 15.81 kmpl for the petrol hybrid and at 17.41 kmpl for the diesel engine.
