MG Hector internet of cars event – Microsoft, Gaana, Cisco, TomTom to participate

MG Hector will be the company’s first ever SUV for India. Ahead of its official launch, MG India has organized an event called ‘Drive.IN – Introducing India to Internet of cars’.

The idea behind this event is to showcase the capabilities of the MG Hector, not as an SUV, but as a connected car with future ready tech. Once launched in May 2019, MG Hector will become the first ever connected car to go on sale in India.

As MG India gets ready to showcase its internet of cars idea, the company is ready to introduce all with whom its working for its innovative first car in India. As we live in a more and more connected world, security concerns are always paramount. MG India has partnered with Microsoft to safeguard customer privacy. Travis Lench from Microsoft will talk about cyber security in the auto industry at the event next month.

MG India has associated with Gaana, and Prashan Agarwal will discuss the music app. With customer service being a top issue in today’s car ownership experience, Steven Hayes will talk about a digitally-connected customer journey to highlight what SAP delivers. TomTom’s advanced navigation system is being used, and Tsjerk-Friso Roelfzema will help navigate through traffic related solutions.

Jürgen Hase, CEO, UNLIMIT will elaborate on connected mobility and smartphone capability. Everything in our car is now easier and possible at a simple command. MG India is working with Nuance Communications, and Charles Kuai will talk about cars that are more of a companion.

With connected mobility being paramount, Krish Inbarajan from Cisco will talk about on-the-go connectivity solutions. Kulmeet Bawa from Adobe will throw light on the digital customer journey envisioned. In all, the brief focuses entirely on connected mobility and the tech that supports next gen cars.

MG Hector is a 5 seater SUV, which will take on the likes of Tata Harrier and Jeep Compass. It will be bigger in size as compared to any other car in the segment. Pricing will be in the Rs 13-16 lakh range. It will be offered with petrol 1.5 liter turbo engine mated to manual as well as automatic gearbox. Diesel engine will be a 2.0 liter mill, sourced from FCA. This is the same engine which powers Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier.
