MG Motors marks its entry into the highly competitive Indian automotive 5 seater premium SUV segment with the new MG Hector. Bookings opened earlier this month at Rs 50,000 deposit. And even before the launch / price announcement, MG had received over 10,000 bookings for Hector.
This is a new record in the segment. No other car has managed to garner over 10,000 bookings before launch. Rival Tata Harrier took more than 4 months to cross the 10,000 bookings mark.
The new MG Hector is priced from Rs 12.18 lakhs for the base petrol version and goes up to Rs. 16.88 lakhs for the fully loaded diesel variant. These are ex-sh prices. What about on-road prices? Well, below are the on road prices of MG Hector in among the top 11 cities of India.
On road prices of MG Hector in Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Patna and Lucknow. Ahmedabad has the lowest prices, while Bangalore has the highest. Difference between Hector prices in Ahmedabad and Bangalore is about 2.4 lakhs.
As you can see in the price table above, the petrol MT variant is offered only with Style and Super. Petrol AT 7 DCT trim is offered with Smart and Sharp trims. Hybrid petrol variant is only offered with 6 MT and with Super, Smart and Sharp trims. Diesel is only offered with 6 MT, with all four trims.
MG Hector is produced at the company plant in Halol, Gujarat. It is presented in an array of attractive colour schemes of Candy White, Aurora Silver, Glaze Red, Starry Black and Burgundy Red. It comes in with some outstanding features, some of which are the first in its class. The MG Hector is also seen with advanced in-car technologies for which the company has entered into an alliance with global tech partners such as like Microsoft, Adobe, SAP, Cisco, Nuance, Gaana, TomTom and Unlimit.
Standing 4,655mm in length, 1,835mm in width and 1,760mm in height with a 2,750mm long wheelbase, the MG Hector gets ground clearance at 192mm and boot space of 587 kgs, which is the largest in its segment.
MG Hector gets a choice of power trains which including a petrol-hybrid version and a diesel motor. The 1.5 liter petrol engine offers 143 bhp power and 250 Nm torque. It also gets a 48V mild hybrid system claiming to be more fuel efficient as compared to its regular petrol variant. This variant delivers instant boost of 20 Nm when the battery is fully charged.
The Fiat sourced 2.0 liter diesel engine is capable of 173 bhp power and 350 Nm torque. The petrol engine gets mated to a 6 speed manual and automatic DCT. Mileage figures are at 14.16 kmpl for petrol hybrid MT and at 13.96 kmpl on the petrol AT. The diesel engine will deliver 17.41 kmpl fuel efficiency.
