Hero Maestro Edge and Duet 110 cc scooters launching on Sept 29

New Hero Scooters Maestro Edge and Duet launch date

With its two new automatic scooters, Hero Motocorp would be having a wider coverage of the rapidly growing two wheeler segment.

Hero Motocorp has just sent media invite for the “unveiling of new Heroes”. While there is no specific information on the products to be unveiled, the image of ignition dial clearly points towards scooters. We strongly expect the models to be Hero Maestro Edge and Duet 110 cc automatic scooters that have been recently spotted at dealerships.

Aimed at upsetting the market leader Honda Activa, the new duo is powered by a 110 cc air-cooled engine. The new motor is estimated to generate around 8 PS and 8.5 PS of torque when mated to a CVT.

While the new scooters are expected to be mechanically identical, the Meastro Edge (previewed as the Dash concept) will cater to male audience and the Duet has a unisex appeal. The models have completely different design approaches to cover a wide audience base.

New Hero scooters are aimed at the segment leading Honda Activa (image: Hero Dash near production concept at Autoexpo 2014).

Going by the spyshots, the twins are equipped with funky instrument consoles with digital display, Integrated Braking System (Combi Brakes), 3D badges on the engine cover, large grab rails, telescopic front fork and single-sided coil spring rear shock absorber. We also expect them to sport tubeless tyres, maintenance free batteries and ample underseat storage space.

While the Hero Maestro Edge is estimated to be priced at around INR 50,000 (ex-showroom), the Duet is expected to be cheaper by INR 3,000 – 4,000.
