A non-camouflaged example of the new Honda Civic has been spied at what is reported to be the automaker’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. The presence of the new gen model in India adds gravity to the earlier reports that suggested the new Civic will be launched in India.
The sedan could be here for testing or homologation purposes. Honda Cars India may also conduct customer clinics to better understand the car’s prospects.
The launch time frame for the Civic is unclear as of now but we don’t expect Honda to be in a hurry. Likely to be launched towards the end of next year or early 2018, the Civic will be attempting to revive the entry level D sedan segment.
This time around, we expect the Civic to be available with the diesel engine option. The 1.6-litre i-DTEC EarthDream diesel motor which is available in International-spec model is most likely to be introduced in India as well.
The petrol option would be the new 1.5-litre i-VTEC turbocharged unit. Both manual and automatic transmission options are expected to be on offer.
The new Honda Civic will be competing with the likes of Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra, Chevrolet Cruze, and Volkswagen Jetta.
