Having made its presence felt at the 2018 Auto Expo earlier this year, new generation Honda CRV SUV launch in India is scheduled for sometime in October. It will come in with an all new design, with a more spacious cabin for up to 7 adults, and a diesel engine.
This will be for the first time that a diesel engine will be on offer for Honda CRV in India. On sale in India for about a decade now, the premium SUV was only offered with a petrol engine till date.
The new India-spec Honda CRV sports an aggressive exterior design, which looks a lot sharper than the current CRV. It will be seen with a larger chrome grille in the front, flanked by LED headlamps and DRLs. It measures 4,571 mm in length, 1,885 mm in height and 1,667 mm in width while wheelbase is at 2,662mm resulting in more legroom at the rear, while boot space is also augmented. It gets 18″ wheels depending on variant.
The 7 seater Honda CR-V will be seen with more premium interiors. These include a 2 zone climate control system, premium soft touch materials, remote engine start, rear USB ports and heated side mirrors. Cabin is more spacious, and completed in leather trims and wood and metal accents. A floating touchscreen infotainment system supports satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Honda CR-V in India will be powered by a 1.6 litre diesel engine offering 120 hp power and 300 Nm torque mated to a 9 speed automatic gearbox. No manual transmission option will be on offer. 0-100 kmph acceleration time is 11.2 seconds.
India will not get the international spec 160 hp tuned version of the same 1.6 litre diesel engine. Along with a 2WD drive option, AWD drive option will also be on offer. It should come in priced at around Rs 27 lakhs and will compete against the Volkswagen Tiguan, Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, and Hyundai Tucson in India.
