New Hyundai Elantra gets ready for India launch – Spied on test

Already launched in the markets outside India, the new Hyundai Elantra is now getting ready for its launch in India. Ahead of that, the luxury sedan was spied for the first time in India. Expect launch to take place by mid 2019.

New Hyundai Elantra comes in with better styling and updated technology. 2019 Hyundai Elantra sedan, is offered in SE, SEL, Value Edition, Limited, Eco, and Sport variants in the US, where it has already been launched. It boasts of a more aggressive design as compared to its earlier counterpart.

Boasting of a host of safety features, the new Elantra sedan depending on variant will get Hyundai’s new SmartSense safety suite. It will see the likes of forward collision avoidance, lane keep assist, driver attention alert, pedestrian detection, safe exit assist, blind spot monitoring and lane change assist.

Even the base SE trim will get rear view camera, a 5” color screen, 8” touchscreen display, Bluetooth connectivity and steering mounted audio controls. Once launched in India, it will rival the likes of Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla, etc.

New Elantra

2019 Hyundai Elantra sedan will also launch in India in an estimated price range from Rs 15-18 lakhs. Unlike its US spec model which is powered by 3 petrol engine options, the India spec Hyundai Elantra will continue to be powered by a 2.0 liter, 4 cylinder petrol engine offering 152 PS power and 192 Nm torque and a 1.6 liter turbo diesel engine capable of 128 PS power and 260 Nm torque.

In the US, 2019 Hyundai Elantra sees a marginal increase in price across all variants in the US. For starters the Elantra SE sees a $1,000 jump to $18,100. The Value trim starts at $20,400 while the Eco variant carries a price tag from $20,950. The Limited trim gets a $500 increase in price from $22,100 for the 2018 model to $22,600 for the 2019 model while the top of the like Sport is priced at $22,400 for the 6 speed manual going up to $23,500 for the 7 speed eco-shift.
