New Hyundai i30 fastback makes global debut – Launch soon

The newly sculpted Hyundai i30 Fastback/ compact sedan upholds its fluidic body lines that run across the body and nuances sporty at the same time. It will be available on European roads in less than a year.

Speaking about the new i30 fastback – despite its compact dimensions, the car has a seemingly wider appeal through deliberate design. Hyundai i30 Fastback stands at a height of 4.67 ft, and at a length of 14.6 ft. That’s about 4.5″ longer than the i30 hatchback, on which it is based.

In the front, the grille height is lower as compared to the i30 hatch. There is also a lower horizontal air intake in the front. The front appeal is completed with LED DRL’s and headlamps encased in a dark bezel to give make the front look more impactful. A sloping roofline characterizes the car. In fact, the roofline is lower by 30 mm in comparison to the regular five-door i30 for improved aerodynamics.

This compact segment Hyundai entrant sports an arched rear spoiler line integrated with the boot door. Inspiration for the C-pillar and rear windscreen comes from Hyundai’s premium cars to ensure strong dynamics. Colour options are a combination of 12 exterior hues and 3 interior finishes.

Exterior Colour choices: Stargazing Blue, Micron Grey and Phantom Black,Clean Slate Blue, Intense Copper, Moon Rock, Fiery Red, Platinum Silver, Ara Blue, White Sand, Engine Red, Polar White. Interior colour choices: Oceanids Black, Slate Grey, Merlot Red interior.

Safety features include Autonomous Emergency Braking, Driver Attention Alert, High Beam Assist and Lane Keeping Assist. Advanced Smart Cruise Control (ASCC), Rear-Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and Speed Limit Information Function (SLIF) are on offer. Pedestrian recognition is offered as an option.

The 8″ touchscreen tab can connect to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for on road connectivity. A Qi standard wireless charging system is in place.

Power comes from a 1.4l T-GDI turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 140 PS mated to six-speed manual transmission or seven-speed dual clutch automatic. The 1.0l T-GDI turbocharged 3-cylinder unit with 120 PS is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. A 1.6l four-cylinder turbocharged diesel (110 PS or 136 PS) to be available later would be mated to six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic transmission.
