New Mahindra Marazzo alloys, shark LED tail lights, rear disc brake – Spied

Mahindra and Mahindra, leading SUV makers in India will launch their ‘Shark’ inspired MPV in India on 3rd September 2018. Codenamed U321, the premium MPV has been spied on test on numerous occasions. But for the first time, it has revealed its new alloys wheel design along with shark tail inspired LED tail lights.

Mahindra Marazzo will be offered in 7 and 8 seater options and will compete with the Toyota Innova Crysta and Tata Hexa in its segment. It gets disc brakes on all four wheels for added safety.

Mahindra Marazzo is the first passenger vehicle to be developed by Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai along with the company’s North American Technical Center. It also owes its design to Pininfarina and Kahindra’s design studio in Kandivali in Mumbai.

Chief Designer at Mahindra, Mr. Ananthan Ramkripa states that the Marazzo design has been inspired by a shark which is evident in its exterior and interior design elements. Based on a monocoque chassis, the Marazzo gets Shark inspired teeth like grille inserts, shark tail inspired tail lamps and a shark fin antenna.

Interiors in 7 seater option gets captain seats for its second row while the 8 seater variant sports bench seats. These captain seats on the 7 seater Marazzo can be folded forward to have easier access to the last row seats while in the 8 seater, the bench is foldable to a 40:20:40 split. Interiors are done up in a color combination of black and beige.

It receives leather seating, faux aluminum inserts and front and roof mounted AC vents. The three spoke steering wheel also gets matching faux aluminum inserts and the 7” touchscreen infotainment system receives Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Airbags, ABS, EBD and rear parking sensors are among its safety features which are offered as standard.

Engine specifications on the new Mahindra Marazzo have not yet been detailed. These could include a 1.5 liter diesel engine offering 121 hp power and 300 Nm torque. The engine could get mated to manual and automatic gearbox options. They will be capable of meeting upcoming Bharat Stage 6 norms in 2020 though for now they will be BS IV compliant. Price expected is Rs 11-15 lakhs.
