A new MPV, which has been developed at Mahindra’s North American Technical Centre in the US, is getting ready for launch in India. It will be produced from the company plant in Nasik from where the Bolero, Verito, Xylo and Thar are also produced.

This new Mahindra MPV will be positioned above the Xylo in the company line-up and will rival Toyota Innova Crysta MPV. This 7/8 seater car has been spied on test near company plant by reader Mr Jain.

New Mahindra MPV will be positioned on the same monocoque platform on which the flagship XUV500 is based. Spy shots reveal exterior features among which are a black mesh grille with chrome accents, projector headlights with blackened housing and LED DRLs, new fog lamps and sharp character lines running along the sides of the MPV. Vertically arranged tail lamps are also noted along with alloy wheels.

Interior spy shots reveal that the car will be offered in a 7 and 8 seater layout. It gets a dual tone interior with features that include new steering wheel design, automatic climate controls, touchscreen infotainment system and AC vents for all 3 rows of seating.

Safety features could include automatic climate controls, rear parking sensors and airbags along with ABS and EBD offered as standard.

The new MPV could receive power from a new 1.6 liter diesel engine and a petrol engine mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox or an optional 6 speed automatic transmission. Though no pricing details have also been revealed, the new Mahindra MPV could be priced from around INR 9-13 lakhs while it will rival the Toyota Innova Crysta and Renault Lodgy in its segment.
