New Maruti Ertiga spied with Automatic gearbox, Auto AC – Launch by Diwali 2018

The second generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has already made its world debut in Indonesia in April this year. It is slated for launch in India later, probably just ahead of the festive season in the country.

Thanks to the latest spy images, it can be noted that the new Maruti Ertiga will be offered with automatic transmission option. This will be in the form of a 4 speed gearbox, same as the one on current Ertiga. In addition to that, it will also get auto AC option, a feature which was missing on the current Ertiga.

2018 Maruti Ertiga grows in dimensions while it will also receive better features, added safety features and new petrol engine. In terms of exterior upgrades, 2018 Maruti Ertiga gets new headlamps with projector lamps and LED DRLs. It also receives LED tail lamps and will sit on 16” wheels. Based on Suzuki’s HEARTECT platform, dimensions also increase and the new Ertiga will be 99mm longer, 40mm wider and 5mm taller than its outgoing model.

Interiors get some upmarket styling with a new 7” touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and Bluetooth connectivity. Automatic climate controls, push button start/stop and ISOFIX seats along with dual front airbags, ABS and EBD will also be among its features though some of these will only be offered on the top end variants. The cabin itself, which will be done up in dual tones, will be more spacious specially in the third row while boot space will also be at a premium.

Engine specifications on the 2018 Maruti Ertiga will include a newly developed 1.5 liter petrol engine that is more efficient than the 1.4 liter engine seen on its present model. This 1.5 liter petrol currently offer 104.7 PS peak power and 138 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed manual and 4 speed AT as seen on the model on sale in Indonesia.

India will get the same engine but mated to a 6 speed AT while the Ertiga in India will also get powered by a 1.5 liter diesel engine mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. It could be priced between INR 6.5 lakhs and INR 11 lakhs as against its current counterpart which is priced from INR 6.3 lakhs to INR 10.93 lakhs.
