New Maruti Ertiga is bigger, more premium – Mahindra Marazzo rival launch this Diwali

2018 Maruti Ertiga MPV is one of the most awaited launches this festive season. It will go on sale through standard Arena network of dealers and not as a NEXA product. Even as the new Ertiga is set to replace the current version, the current generation model will also continue to be on sale targeting the taxi market.

Even as Maruti Suzuki dealers have not officially started accepting bookings for the new Ertiga, unofficial bookings are said to have started at a down payment of Rs 11,000.

The new gen Ertiga comes in 6 years after initial launch of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. It will rival the recently launched Mahindra Marazzo. New Ertiga is bigger and wider than the old Ertiga, making it a perfect rival to the Mahindra Marazzo. While the current Ertiga is priced between Rs 6.34 – 10.69 lakhs, the new model could come in with an increase of about Rs 50,000 – 1 lakhs.

The second generation Maruti Ertiga will be produced from the Suzuki Gurugram plant. It will be positioned on the HEARTECT platform on which the Baleno, Swift and DZire are also positioned. It would boast of sharp headlamps with LED DRLs, 15” or 16” multi spoke alloy wheels, a new front grille with chrome accents, new front bumper and turn indicators on ORVMs.

Interiors will be more spacious as compared to its current counterpart and get both driver and passenger comforts and a host of safety features. These would include faux wooden paneling on dashboard and door trims, comfortable seating, tilt steering and a 6.8” touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Among its safety features will be ABS, EBD and stability control offered as standard besides dual airbags and ISOFIX seats.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will get its power via a new 1.5 liter petrol engine (seen on new Ciaz) and a 1.3 liter diesel engine both of which will get mated to manual and automatic transmission options. The petrol engine is rated to deliver 104 PS while the diesel is at 90 PS. Mileage will be best in class.
