Larger and bolder than the previous generation Maruti Ertiga, the new Ertiga MPV was launched in India on 21st November. The 7 seater MPV is seeing good response among buyers in the country. It has registered good booking numbers and dealers are already quoting a waiting period of 4 weeks.
In spite of being launched so late in the month, new Ertiga has managed to post its highest ever monthly sales for the year 2018. In Nov 2018 a record 6,362 units of the Ertiga were sold in India.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is presented in 10 variants. The petrol variants include LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+ are while VXi and ZXi are petrol automatic and LDi, VDi, ZDi and ZDi+ are diesel manual variants. It comes in with a bolder design and updated interiors. Dimensions are also increased for better interior space and comfort. Maruti Suzuki has also upped its quotient where safety is concerned making the new Ertiga see improvements in every department.
Maruti Ertiga MPV is built on Suzuki’s 5th generation HEARTECT platform. The new platform ensures a lighter and more rigid structure allowing the Ertiga to comply with new and stricter crash safety norms where frontal offset and side impact is concerned.
The cabin of new Ertiga sports a refreshed look with dual tones, faux maple inserts and a cleaner and better finish. The added length results in more space at the rear while seating is better cushioned and bolstered. Seats in the second row are 60:40 seats with 15 degree reclining angle.
Infotainment is via a 17.8cm touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and MirrorLink while the instrument cluster also sports an LCD multi information screen offering key information as is also seen on the S-Cross and Ciaz.
2018 Maruti Ertiga MPV is powered by a new K15 petrol engine offering 103 bhp power and 138 Nm torque. The DDiS200 diesel engine offers 88.5 bhp power and 200 Nm torque. Fuel efficiency of the petrol and diesel engine stands at 19.34 kmpl and 25.47 kmpl respectively. The new Ertiga is priced from Rs.7.44 lakhs for the base LXi variant going up to Rs.10.90 lakhs for the top end ZDi trim.
