Renault Koleos to be replaced by new 7-seater crossover, to rival Hyundai Santa Fe

All-new Renault 7-seater is what the company is working on, which is set to become the new flagship crossover for Asian markets. It would take on the the likes of Hyundai Santa Fe and upcoming Skoda SUV (codename Skoda A+), apart from having Nissan X-Trail in the crosshairs.

The Renault seven seater crossover is expected to unveil in 2017. China could be the manufacturing base for the crossover, since Kadjar (on the same platform) will come from there.
The new 7-seat crossover will be positioned above Kadjar and below Espace, replacing the slow selling Koleos. Renault Espace premium SUV is not offered in Asian markets and Koleos is not doing well since it is viewed as a high priced 5-seater. The upcoming SUV is not likely to be the next gen Koleos, instead it would initiate a new brand targeted at Asian markets, with its name starting with letter ‘C’ or ‘K’.

New mid-size Renault crossover will be based on the new and versatile CMF platform, and will be designed to offer maximum practically and features, to be welcomed by the targeted markets, which have a penchant for D-segment SUVs. But, apart from managing to fend off city friendly 7-seat crossovers like the aforementioned, new Renault Koleos replacement will have to be capable enough to outsmart hardcore SUVs of the segment with rugged underpinnings, like Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Ford Endeavour for starters.
