New VW Beetle brochure leaked ahead of its India launch
The New VW Beetle is slated to be launched in India anytime soon and the product brochure has been leaked, revealing most of the vital information. The retro classic automobile makes a re-entry into India in its latest avatar.
Visually, the new Beetle has its timeless silhouette intact but receives new bi-xenon headlamps with LED DRLs, bumpers, alloy wheels, taillights and spoiler. The interior too receives minor improvements including a new steering wheel.
Being a CBU import with niche positioning, the Beetle will be available in India in its fully loaded variant. Noteworthy features include front and side airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, ASR, EDL, EDTC, front and rear parking sensors, brake pad wear indicator, cruise control, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers and so on.
The interior is equipped with dual-zone climate control system, panoramic sunroof, split folding rear seats, keyless entry, auto dimming interior lights, and comprehensive infotainment system which incorporates 8 speakers, USB, Bluetooth and Aux-in.
The new Beetle for the Indian market will be available with a 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged petrol motor which is mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The motor puts out a healthy 147 PS (110 KW).
Expect the new VW Beetle to be priced at around INR 30 lakhs (ex-showoom). The retro classic will compete with the Mini Cooper.
