New Yamaha MT-25 rendering out (naked version of Yamaha R25)
New Yamaha MT-25 rendering has been released by our counterpart in Indonesia, which captures the essence of the MT series and adds viable detailing of Yamaha R25 super sport.
The street fighter derivative of the highly successful Yamaha R25 sports bike, is the next most awaited model from the Japanese motorcycle maker’s steroid-injected stable. Codenamed B04, the Yamaha MT-25 will have the same underpinnings as in the fully faired variant, but powertrain is expected to be retuned to fit the profile and behaviour of a street fighter.
Yamaha R25 is driven by 249cc liquid-cooled (in-line) twin cylinder engine with DOHC, that pushes out 36 PS max power and 22.6 Nm peak torque, mated to 6-speed gearbox. While same engine will be mounted aboard the Yamaha MT-25, power delivery characteristics could be altered, and so could be the gear ratios.
As for equipment that are put together to form the MT-25, expect single-pot halogen headlamp with bikini fairing, traditional handlebar in place of clip-ons, new muscular fuel tank, a pair of small tank extensions, exposed radiator, prominent engine cowl, long exhaust can and sharp tail piece similar to that of Yamaha R25.
Price of Yamaha MT-25 will be considerably lesser. If the naked model finds its way into India, KTM Duke 390, Benelli TNT 300 and Kawasaki Z250 will be waiting for a battle.
