All electric Nissan IMx concept vehicle offers fully autonomous operation and a driving range of more than 600 kilometers. The innovative concept vehicle provides a glimpse into the future of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, Nissan’s approach to changing how cars are powered, driven and integrated with society. It’s designed to strengthen the link between car and driver as a close, reliable partner that delivers a safer, more convenient and more enjoyable drive.
Nissan IMx concept is based on Nissan’s EV architecture that is also seen on the new Leaf but goes a step further as it takes ProPILOT technology offered on Nissan Leaf to a fully automated level. With two electric motors that gives it a four wheel drive with total output of 423 bhp and 516 lb/ft torque and a range of 373 miles. The batteries are located on the floor which considerably lowers centre of gravity and the concept also boasts of Nissan’s semi autonomous ProPilot System.
On display at Tokyo Motor Show, Nissan IMx concept with ProPilot sees its steering wheel retract into the dashboard. The seats also recline for passenger relaxation when the car is driving itself and the EV acts as a temporary energy storage solution as was also seen on the Leaf which can turn power to the grid when not in use. ProPilot system includes 9 radar sensors, 12 cameras, 6 laser scanners and 12 sonar sensors with each sensor having a definite role.
Use of wood is seen in the interiors of Nissan’s IMx Concept. It gets a large infotainment display and instrument cluster showing an all round view of the car. Infotainment displays are gesture controlled with eye movements monitored by artificial intelligence system.
All electric Nissan IMx concept is fully autonomous and provides an insight into Nissan Intelligent Mobility. The concept brings together an all new approach to how cars behave and how they can be powered. The interaction is to strengthen the relationship between car and human as a reliable partnership. The theme for the IMx is ‘Together We Ride’.
