A pristine example of the highly exclusive Mercedes G 63 AMG 6×6 has just landed at the Mumbai airport, ready to go on a frenzy. It’s presence in India is intriguing given the fact that the menacing off-roader had been sold out long ago and was never built in RHD configuration. Therefore, imposing 6-wheeler is suspected to be in India on a short stay visa.
Mercedes built the G 63 AMG 6×6 to rewrite the rules of recreational off-roading. With three portal axles, six 37-inch tyres, multiple lockable differentials and 5.5-litre Bi-turbo V8 AMG engine, there is very little that the unearthly piece of equipment can’t do. Inside, it’s a quintessential Mercedes with top-notch trims, heated leather seats and so on.
Be it bringing steep sand dunes to utter submission or wading through 3 feet water undeterred or dancing through rocks with impeccable wheel articulation, the G 63 AMG 6×6 will do them all without breaking a sweat. Oh, did we mention that it can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in under 8 seconds?
The V8 Biturbo petrol motor is mated to a 7-speed 7G-Tronic automatic transmission to produce a healthy 544 PS and 760 Nm of torque. Watch the video to get an fair idea on what this 6-wheeled monster is capable of.
