Rapido launces ‘Rapido Box’ for delivery of essentials

Currently offered in Bengaluru, Kolkata and Hyderabad, Rapido Box ensures delivery of essentials to those who are in need

Rapido, the country’s largest Bike Taxi App has announced an on-demand service called ‘Rapido Box’ allowing users to deliver food, grocery and medicines to friends and families in the three cities of Bengaluru, Kolkata and Hyderabad. This is a person to person (P2P) delivery service allowing customers to request pick up and drop off essentials from one to another customer.

This is ideally suited for friends and family who are in urgent need of essential items but are unable to move out of their homes during this lock down period. It is especially suited for deliveries to the old and infirm who are living on their own and are more vulnerable to the coronavirus pandemic, in case they venture out.

Rapido Box ensures quick, safe delivery of essentials and is cost effective as well. While it benefits customers, it is also a source of income to Captains on the road. These driver partners have been left without any means of earning following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and this venture would act as a support to them.

The base price for this service is at Rs.35 for deliveries within a 2 km radius with Rs.15 as additional costs per km after that. Users will be able to track their orders via the Order Tracking URL which will be shared with them via SMS while they will need to update their existing Android app. This service is similar to that offered by Dunzo and Swiggy Genie.

Rapido has also been offering delivery services for Zomato, Swiggy and Delhivery.com besides Myntra and Eat.Fit. These services have been in force for the past 2 years and the company has also partnered with Big Bazaar and Spencer for delivery of essential items.

Rapido is supporting the Delhi Government in delivery of items such as milk and food packets to the underprivileged in the city and in Bengaluru has even partnered with Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) COVID-19 Home Delivery Helpline to contend with supply chain constraints during this period of lockdown.

The app can be downloaded on iOS or on Android phones. Users have to log in from their account and start bookings. Once booking is done, the amount and details of the Captain appear and pick up is effected in the shortest possible time. In keeping with safety measures, each Captain carries an additional helmet which is given on arrival and at no added costs.
