Recently launched Duster Petrol Turbo 1.3 MT and CVT variants have brought focus back on Renault’s first successful model in the country. It is available at a price significantly lower than competition. But it loses out to competition in terms of features and other aspects.

Renault India heralds its rural market performance, wherein 25 percent of sales volumes is attributed to such markets. Executing a network strategy has helped bolster sales. Renault has added 17 new sales and service touchpoints to improve presence and reach in existing and emerging markets. Currently, the automaker has a sales network of 390+ and service touchpoints of 470+. Demand for automatic versions is being met with the likes of Kwid and Triber AMT, and Duster Turbo CVT.

The NEXT Renault

Renault India is also geared up for a boost of its product portfolio with a new compact UV at hand. The Renault-Nissan Alliance will use the CMF-A+ platform to build Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger. Both impending launches are currently undergoing regular road testing.

While the compact UV segment is already competitive, it’s going to get a shot in the arm with a new entrant, Kia Sonet. There’s also the Vitara Brezza based Toyota Urban Cruiser. The latter two offerings are akin to the Renault Kiger – Nissan Magnite association. The segment is a particularly accommodating one, which has mostly grown in size with every new entrant.

If one were to forget Renault Captur’s limited run in the country, Renault has attained great success with new launches, notably Renault Duster in 2012, then Renault Kwid, and more recent Triber. Considering it’s UV market performance, it would be interesting to see how well Renault Kiger is received.

As the brand continues to maintain it’s competitive edge, it did climb to 6th spot on the sales table in August 2020. Finance plans available include no EMI for the first 4 months’, and special festive offers for select markets. This is further boosted by regular dealership offers that include an exchange bonus, cash discounts, loyalty benefits, and corporate discount.
