15th June 2015: Renault Lodgy Stepway is based on the current RxZ top-end model and carries forward same equipment level. The differences come in the form of visual enhancements such as more sophisticated front grille, rugged looking bumpers with silver skid plates, lower body black plastic cladding (with chrome insert on door cladding), branded door sills, anthracite finish for alloy wheels and ‘Stepway’ badge.
There are no enhancements to the interiors and Stepway is available in both 7 and 8 seat variants. RxZ’s equipment list includes foglights, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, touchscreen infotainment system and reverse parking sensor.
Lodgy Stepway is powered by the 1.5-litre dCi four-cylinder diesel engine which is available in its highest state of tune – 110 PS and 245 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Lodgy 110 has an excellent ARAI rated fuel efficiency of 19.98 kmpl.
With an on-road price of around INR 15.55 lakhs (Karnataka), Renault Lodgy Stepway invades segment leader Toytoa Innova’s territory. The Duster-based people carrier would bank on its lengthy features list, fuel efficiency and rugged add-ons to make a strong case for itself. The French car maker is counting on Lodgy to reach its market share target of 5% in India.
