Revolt RV300, RV400 electric motorcycles – Launch price Rs 3k to 4k per month

Revolt Motors has launched the AI enabled RV400 electric motorcycle in India. This is the first electric motorcycle in the country to get on the road. It was first showcased on 18 June, 2019. Thereafter, bookings were opened. 2265 pre-bookings have already been made.

Earlier this month, the maiden RV400 unit rolled off production lines at the company plant in Manesar. The plant boasts of production capacity of 1,20,000 units in its first phase.

Revolt RV400 will be initially available in Delhi and Pune. And in the next three months, sales will be further expanded to NCR, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Ahmedabad and Chennai.

Product warranty is being offered for 75k kms/5 years. Service intervals are slotted at 10k kms. Cost of consumables required in the first three years is being borne by Revolt to some degree. For example a set of tyres will be changed at no charge in the first 3 years.

Speaking about prices, there are 4 variants on offer. Revolt RV300, RV400 and RV400 premium. All are offered on monthly EMIs. Revolt RV300 will cost Rs 2999 pm for 37 months; RV400 is available at a price of Rs 3499 pm for 37 months, and the top of the line Revolt RV400 premium costs Rs 3999 pm for 37 months.

That’s about 1,10,963 bucks for RV300, Rs 1,29,463 for RV400 base, and 1,47,963 for Revolt RV400 premium variant. At the time of buying, riders must present their Aadhar card. Deliveries will begin before August ends.

RV400 electric motorcycle offers choice of three riding modes – Eco, City and Sport. Nitro mode will be introduced later, and will propel bike speed to a new level. The AI enabled bike can also measure range, real time battery consumption, distance travelled, and charging time. Bluetooth connectivity allows users to remotely start their bikes via Revolt App.

The bike can also be started using a smart connected helmet that accepts voice commands, making Revolt a voice enabled offering following a partnership with Google. There’s also a smart key, which has remote function. And it will locate your bike.

RV400 features a fully digital instrument cluster for real time bike diagnostics. Buyers will be able to select from four different exhaust sounds, and more can be downloaded via the revolt App. The app is available both on Android and iOS, and fittingly offers features such as bike locator, door step battery delivery, mobile swap stations and anti theft, etc.

Speaking about charging, it can be charged from 0-75 percent in 3 Hours, and fully charge in 4.5 hours. Battery can be charged via a normal 15A socket in a matter of 4.5 hours. It’s portable for convenient charging. Revolt Switch lets users swap their battery at a switch station, and will be payable service, once it is launched in 2020.

The e-motorcycle has a 72V 3.24KWh lithium ion battery and 3KW mid-drive motor. While the electric motor and battery pack are imported, the Battery Management System and the ECU have been developed by Revolt in-house. Battery warranty is 8 years/ 1.5L kms.

Weighing in at about 108Kg, Revolt RV400 seats two. Revolt RV400 features LED projection headlamps for high beam, and LED tail lamps and indicators. Dimensions are as follows – Wheelbase – 1350mm; seat height -814mm; and ground clearance – 220mm.

Other features – Front tyre measures up at 90/80-17, and rear at 120/80-17 matched with 8 spoke alloy wheels. Suspension is via inverted fork in the front and adjustable monoshock at the rear. Chassis and frame structures include a lightweight single cradle frame, a bolt on sub-frame, and aluminium swingarm. The footpads are adjustable for seating comfort.

Braking is via disc brakes at either ends, with combined braking system (CBS) and regenerative braking system (RBS) are offered as standard. This includes a 240mm front disc, and 240mm rear disc. IP67 ensures great water wading capacity.

RV400 is ARAI range certified at 156 kms on a single charge and is capable of a top speed of 85 kmph. Revolt RV400 has been under development for the past 2 years. It has been tried and tested under Indian weather and road conditions and designed taking into account customer’s preferences. Offered in Rebel Red and Cosmic Black colours.
