Honda Activa, Vespa part of 10k scooters for ride sharing – By Drivezy

These scooters and bikes will be put to use across Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mysore, Mangalore and Manipal. Drivezy offers car, motorcycle and scooter sharing services in 9 cities, and has picked up $20 million (Rs 140 crore) in Series B funding and a $100 million (Rs 700 crore) asset financing deal with Anypay. This will result in introducing over 50,000 vehicles over the years.

Drivezy has enlisted more than 4k two-wheelers in their quest of growing in India, which includes Honda Activa, Vespa, etc. The addition of 3,000 scooters in Bangalore and Hyderabad in 2018 materialised through a partnership with Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India.

The company has partnered with Oyo and Ola in Hyderabad and is eyeing more such partnerships partnerships in the near future to expand the bike and car rental space. The new fleet will boost the company’s position in the ever-growing Indian vehicle sharing segment. Drivezy customers can rent vehicles on an hourly, daily or monthly basis.

Alongwith the increased fleet, a one-way two-wheeler rental service is being introduced. This will let customers rent a scooter or motorcycle at one location, and drop it at another company location as required, and customers will be able to avail of economical last-mile connectivity options.

“The global car-centric culture has burdened our cities with much unpleasantness, from traffic to parking shortages. The sharing economy in India is thriving and has picked up the real pace in the past five years, especially within the mobility sector. With less than 8% of Indian citizens owning a car, the rapidly growing car and bike sharing industry could provide convenient and sustainable mobility to millions of urban Indian residents,” said CEO and Co-Founder, Ashwarya Pratap Singh.

Drivezy makes it possible for vehicle owners to list their idle cars, motorcycles and scooters generate revenue. The company works with 2,000 vehicle owners, and operates 7k+ cars, bikes and scooters on its platform. On monthly basis, rentals are used by about 37k customers.
