Sold only through its online store, the limited edition Royal Enfield motorcycles inspired by despatch riders of World Wars have been sold out within few minutes.

Royal Enfield Classic Despatch Rider limited edition models which were unveiled last month have been sold out in India withing half an hour of commencement of online sales. The limited edition motorcycles pay homage to despatch riders who played a vital role in World Wars, conveying information between battle field and command post.

200 units (out of 600 units in total) of Royal Enfield Classic Despatch Rider edition allotted for India have been sold out in just 26 minutes.

Classic Despatch Rider limited edition derives inspiration from original RE motorcycles used in the war. Sold in three color options namely Desert Storm, Squadron Blue and Battle Green (200 units each), the motorcycles feature crafted camouflage skin which are result of personal skills by RE employees. This makes every Despatch Rider motorcycle unique.

Other visual enhancements include matte black color theme for engine and exhaust, Italian leather saddle, strap for air filter box and an embossed hallmark carrying manufacturing details. In addition, RE has also introduced an array of Depatch Rider apparels and accessories collection which can be ordered from 50 international markets via store.RoyalEnfield.com.

Prices started at INR 2.24 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai).

The rate at which the inventory got depleted strongly indicates that retro classic nature of these bikes are highly sought after. This would encourage the Indian two wheeler maker to come up with such limited editions on a regular basis.
