Rushlane has learnt that TVS would soon offer optional dual-channel ABS on all variants of the Apache RTR 200 4V. The customers who would like to add the safety feature can get it installed at the dealership and according to our sources, the system is estimated to cost somewhere around INR 10,000 – 12,000 (exclusive of labor charges).
Select variants of the motorcycle have started being sold in certain cities in the southern part of the country. TVS is adopting a gradual ramp-up of production and a phase-wise launch. The ABS can be retro-fitted at the dealership once the relevant components are ready to be shipped. The system can be installed irrespective of the variant or tyre choice (Apache is available with standard TVS Remora and optional Pirelli tyres). Since it’ll be a company authorised dealer level fitment, we don’t expect it to have any negative effect on the product warranty.
The dual-channel ABS system for the Apache has been developed by Continental. With awareness of safety and technology increasing steadily among compact displacement sportsbike buyers in India, the demand for the optional ABS is expected to be healthy.
