Louis, 61 and his wife Janet D’Souza, 55, are all set to take off on a journey that will take them across 40 countries and 50,000 kms over the next 6 months. This adventure will be undertaken in their brand new BMW X5 as they plan on setting out on Louis’ 62nd birthday on the 20th of May 2016. Putting age, family pressures and demanding jobs behind them, the couple sees no hitch in what they term, as an adventure of their lives.
Inspired by an article they spotted wherein Anand Baid and his family travelled for 111 days from Bengaluru to Paris across 12 countries, the D’Souzas decided to go a step further.
The couple has been in touch with the Baid family and is aware of the trials and difficulties they may have to face along the journey. They are willing to have to fend for themselves and tackle any mechanical issues that may come up with their vehicle.
The couple will travel to China, Mongolia, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, United Kingdom, France, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Poland, Belarus, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Malta, Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Tibet, Nepal.
The D’Souzas have stated that this adventure will help White Doves, a Mangaluru based NGO working for the destitute while also the Muskan Foundation for People with Disabilities in Mumbai. Financial aid will be provided to these two organizations at the end of the journey. They will donate INR 10, for every kilometer they cover during this trip.
