Skoda Octavia gets Audi-style Virtual Cockpit in India on top variant
Skoda’s Virtual Cockpit interface will only be on offer on the top of the line L&K variant.
Skoda Octavia L&K equipped with Virtual Cockpit has already started reaching dealerships in India. This Virtual Cockpit has been seen on top of the line cars from Audi and VW Group and the Octavia is the first Skoda car to receive this feature. Following introduction on the Skoda Octavia, the company is likely to offer this feature also on the Skoda Superb and Skoda Kodiaq in the months ahead.
Skoda Virtual Cockpit made its debut on the Karoq last year and from this year onwards is being presented with the Octavia, Superb and Kodiaq. Virtual Cockpit is a 10.25” HD fully digital instrument panel.
It allows drivers to choose from 4 different layouts of Classic, Digital, Infoprofile and Reduced. Each of these layouts is programmable. The more performance oriented RS variant gets a special Sports layout, however, in India this Virtual Cockpit is only offered on the top-spec L&K variant.
Skoda’s Virtual Cockpit shows off display speed, rpm, fuel gauge and map. It also offers information on audio system, phone and assistance system with the controls for making necessary changes on the steering wheel.
Skoda Octavia is powered by a 1.8 liter TSI petrol engine offering 178 PS power and 250 Nm torque mated to a 7 speed DSG automatic transmission. It also receives a 2.0 liter TDI engine offering 141 PS power and 320 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed DSG automatic transmission.
The Skoda Octavia is currently priced between Rs 23.15-25.76 lakhs while the inclusion of this new feature could see a marginal increase in prices with announcements to be made soon. The Skoda Octavia competes against the Corolla Altis and Hyundai Elantra.
