SOS button safety feature for Bookmycab app
STA issued various guidelines in December 2014 for licensed fleet taxi operators and app-based taxi aggregators. STA does not recognise operators or aggregators operating without license. Guidelines were issued after a meeting with operators and aggregators to enhance safety of passengers availing such services.
Bookmycab’s ‘SOS’ button in its latest app version lets a passenger register upto 3 mobile numbers and email IDs where a message is sent automatically be if he/she is in trouble. The licensed call taxi aggregator’s safety features include alerting police by automatically placing a phone call to police helpline ‘100’, and also alerts bookmycab control room, which will pull out details of the taxi used by a passenger on real-time basis. The information is shared with all 3 registered mobile numbers via SMS and email.
Bookmycab ensures a SMS without location can be sent if the person is in an area where no data/GPS facility is available, at which time a simple SMS will be send to the 3 mobile users and the bookmycab control room with last known location.
Avinash Gupta, Founder and CEO of Bookmycab says the company is the only licensed aggregators to operate as call taxi for black and yellow (Kaali-Peeli) and cool cabs keeping passenger safety in mind. The company is working on installing SOS or Physical Panic button in its cabs in addition to the existing SOS button introduced in the app. Contrarian Drishti Partners’ 2nd investment has been made in Mumbai-based taxi aggregator BookMyCab, and the funding will fuel expansion.
