Tata 45X, the company’s first premium hatchback, is slated for launch in July 2019, just ahead of the festive season. It will rival the Maruti Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20. Prices are expected to be in the Rs.5-8 lakh. The car made its first appearance at the 2018 Auto Expo in concept format. Testing has officially commenced, and every now and then, new details are revealed, thanks to spy shots.
The latest spy images now reveal the car’s dashboard in detail. You can clearly notice the flat-bottomed steering wheel with audio and instrument control, along with floating touchscreen, start/stop button, manual gear-shifter, AC vents, HVAC controls, 12V socket.
Tata 45X is codenamed X4 internally. Official name has not been revealed yet, but reports suggest it could be called Tata Aquilla upon launch. It will be the first model from Tata Motors to be based on the Advanced Modular Platform or ‘AlphaARC’.
Tata 45X features the Impact Design 2.0 philosophy as seen on the Harrier. It will receive sleek projector headlamps with LED DRLs and LED tail lamps, pillar mounted rear door handles and power folding mirrors. It will sit on 16” alloy wheels and a large three dimensional grille in the front.
The interiors will be done up in an all black color scheme while top end variants could get a dual color scheme. Tata 45X will get a dashboard top touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto while safety features should include dual front airbags and ABS with EBD as standard. Music system will include 4 speakers and 4 tweeters and will be powered by Harman Kardon.
No engine specifications have been detailed as on date but Tata could offer the 1.2 liter Revotron petrol engine along with a 1.5 liter diesel engine that currently powers the Tata Nexon. The engine will get mated to both manual and automatic AMT. Safety features will be top notch, including dual Airbags, ABS and strong body shell.
