Ahead of Altroz’ global debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, Tata Motors is building up the momentum by gradually revealing bits of information about the premium hatchback. Partially-silhouetted images shown in teaser videos provide a brief glimpse of things in store for auto enthusiasts.
From what we know so far, thanks to the spy shots and the teaser images shared, digital automotive artist, Pratyush Rout has created rendering of Tata Altroz production variant in 6 dual tone colours of Red, Blue, Orange, White, Silver, Black. The same can be seen in the images below.
Tata Altroz will be based on the new ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) Architecture. ALFA Arc has been especially developed for creating modern, urban vehicles meant for the young at heart. Tata Motors had stated that development cycle can be reduced significantly with ALFA Arc and it can be used to create several new models. Just like Harrier, Tata Altroz utilizes IMPACT 2.0 design language.
Altroz looks stunning with its aerodynamic, sporty design and comes with sweptback LED headlamps, sleek lower grille, angular front bumper, progressively rising window line, and prominent shoulder line. ORVMs are dual tone and come with side indicators. Altroz rear door handles are placed on the C-Pillar, which is similar to that of Maruti Swift. At the rear, Altroz features modernistic LED tail lamps, groovy tailgate and chrome finisher.
Not much has been revealed about interiors, but it is expected to have a premium look and feel, and offer a range of comfort and convenience features. Spy shots indicate that Altroz will most likely have largest-in-class touchscreen infotainment system, a T-shaped central console and semi-digital instrument cluster. Just like most other Tata cars, Altroz will have spacious interiors, packed with a range of utilities.
Tata Altroz will be offered in both petrol and diesel options. Powering the petrol variant could be Nexon’s 1.2 litre, 3 cylinder turbo petrol engine that delivers 110 PS power and 170 Nm torque. Diesel variant could get Nexon’s 1.5 litre turbocharged unit that makes 170 PS / 260 Nm. Transmission options could include manual as well as auto.
It is expected that Tata Altroz will be launched in India sometime in Sep-Oct 2019 to coincide with the festive season. It will compete with other premium hatchbacks such as Maruti Baleno, Honda Jazz and Hyundai i20. Ex-showroom price could be in the range of Rs 5-8 lakh.
