Tata Altroz has been launched in India. Price of petrol variant starts from Rs 5.29 lakhs while that of the diesel variant starts from Rs 6.99 lakhs.
Tata Motors launched their much awaited Altroz preimum hatchback earlier this week in India. A rival to the likes of Maruti Baleno and Hyundai i20, Tata claims that this segment has a market share of about 26% in the Indian auto industry.
Built on the Impact 2.0 design philosophy, that was also seen on the Tata Harrier; Altroz leads the way in design for future Tata hatchbacks. Same design language is now seen on the Tiago small car. Tata Altroz is based on the Tata ALFA – Agile, Light Flexible Advanced modular architecture.
Exterior features include sleek headlamp design with LED DRLs, a black radiator grille with chrome surrounds, well designed bonnet and fenders and a side profile that displays power adjustable ORVMs with integrated turn indicators.
It also receives a roof spoiler, LED tail lamps, wide rear bumpers with reflectors. Base variants get 14 inch steel wheels with 165/80 tyres. Top end variants get new 16” alloy wheels with 195/55 tyres. In terms of dimensions, the Tata Altroz will stand 3,990mm in length, 1,755mm in width and 1,523mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,501mm. Ground clearance is 165 mm, boot space is 345 liters and fuel tank capacity is 37 liters.
On the inside, Altroz receives a new instrument cluster, which has never before seen in a Tata car. It gets a flat bottom steering wheel, height adjustable driver seat, fully automatic climate control with air vents. Safety features include dual front airbags, ABS, EBD. Global NCAP has rated Altroz safety as 5 star. It also gets power windows, smart key push button start, and advanced technology drive mode selection along with park assist feature.
Powering the Altroz is BS6 petrol 1.2 liter engine delivering 86 PS and 113 Nm via 5 speed MT. There is also a BS6 1.5 liter diesel unit delivering 90 PS and 200 Nm. This too is mated to a 5 speed MT. It is the petrol unit which is more in demand, as compared to the petrol unit. Automatic or AMT transmission option is not on offer. Variants on offer are XE, XM, XT, XZ and XZ (O).
