Tata car sales break up Sep 2019 – Tiago, Nexon, Harrier top 3

Tata Motors has reported a 56 percent dip in PV sales in the past month over sales in the same period of the previous year. However, it can be noted that customers responded positively to festive offers with sales up 11 percent when compared to August 2019 when 7,316 units were sold.

Tata Motors PV sales in September 2019 saw every model note de-growth when compared to sales in September 2018. The Sumo and Nano were discontinued while the Tata Harrier entered the segment with sales of 941 units. However, when compared to sales in August 2019, sales in the past month showed some increase across models such as the Tiago, Nexon, Harrier and Hexa.

Tiago sales increased 1 percent from 3,037 units sold in August 2019 to 3,068 units sold in the past month. Nexon sales increased 25 percent to 2,842 units in September 2019 as compared to 2,275 units sold in August 2019 while Harrier and Hexa sales increased 48 percent and 9 percent respectively to 941 units and 148 units in September 2019.

Tata Motors expects to see a significant increase in sales over the current festive period. The company has introduced attractive discounts and benefits on the Tata Harrier, Tiago, Tigor, Hexa, Nexon for October 2019, ranging from Rs.45,000 on the Tiago and Nexon petrol variant and going up to Rs.1.65 lakh on the Hexa.

Sales of the Tata Harrier has also suffered ever since the arrival of the Kia Seltos and MG Hector and buyers through the month of October can avail of a Rs.15,000 corporate discount and Rs.50,000 exchange bonus. Tata Nexon sales have also dipped following launch of the Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV300 but October 2019 offers could boost sales to some extent.

Earlier this month, the company also introduced the Tigor EV with extended range for both fleet and private buyers with prices starting from Rs 9.44 lakhs and Rs 12.59 lakhs respectively. The new Tigor EV comes in with a range of 213 kms and sales to fleet operators takes advantage of FAME II scheme.

Next, Tata Motors plans the Nexon EV in early 2020 which is slated to feature Ziptron technology. It is scheduled to be priced Rs 15 lakh to Rs 17 lakhs.
