Tata Motors continues to test the facelift version of Harrier, which is expected to get some new features and cosmetic touch-ups. Safari facelift will also be receiving a similar set of updates. There’s intense competition from the likes of XUV700, Scorpio N and new MG Hector, which makes it imperative for Harrier and Safari to evolve rapidly.

Harrier facelift is likely to be launched later this year. If there are significant updates, a price hike is possible. As of now, Harrier manual variants are priced in the range of Rs 16.45 lakh to Rs 21.77 lakh. Harrier automatic variants are offered in the range of Rs 19 lakh to Rs 24.07 lakh.

Harrier facelift spotted – New design language inspired by EV Concept

Core silhouette of Harrier facelift appears largely the same as earlier. As the test mule is heavily camouflaged, it’s challenging to confirm the updates that might be there. However, some aspects are clearly evident such as an updated front grille with horizontal slats. Even the lower grille has horizontal slats. In comparison, the current model has chain-style pattern on the upper grille and mesh pattern on the lower grille. The lower bumper section seems unchanged.

As the headlamps and other lighting elements are fully camouflaged, it presents the possibility that there’s a new design in the works. The test mule can be seen with temporary round-shaped halogen headlamps. These are placed on the lower section of the bumper. Harrier facelift could get new styling bits, something similar to that of Harrier EV showcased at 2023 Auto Expo. Components like headlamps, LED DRLs and fog lamps could be common across Harrier facelift and Harrier EV.

Side profile of Harrier facelift is largely the same as the current model. However, the facelift version could get a new set of alloy wheels. At rear, the updated SUV could get revised tail lamps with interconnecting LED strip. This again will be similar to that of Harrier EV.

Inside, Tata Harrier facelift could get updated upholstery and multi-coloured ambient lighting. Harrier has already received a range of updates earlier this year. The current model offers premium features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 9-speaker JBL sound system, 7-inch digital TFT instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charger, 200+ voice commands in 6 languages and iRA connected car platform.

Harrier facelift to get petrol engine delivering 170 PS

Harrier facelift will continue with the existing 2.0-litre turbo diesel motor that makes 170 PS and 350 Nm. It is mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. This engine has been updated to comply with the stricter BS6 Phase 2 emission norms.

Among the possibilities for Harrier facelift is a new 1.5-litre turbo petrol motor. It churns out 170 PS and 280 Nm. Transmission choices will include both manual and automatic. A petrol variant can be useful for Harrier, as it will lower the starting price. Moreover, rivals like XUV700 and Hector already have petrol option along with diesel.
