Tata Kite hatchback rendered in new blue shade

Tata Kite Render

The upcoming Tata Kite hatchback spied on test on many occasions is allĀ set to enter production in December.

To rival hatchbacks like Chevrolet Beat, Maruti Wagon R, Maruti Celerio and the Hyundai i10, Tata Motors is readying a new car, which as on date is codenamed – Kite. Based on a re-engineered Indica XO platform, it will be produced from Tata Motors Sanand, Gujarat plant.

Sporting a new front grille with chrome accents, the Tata Kite has been spied testingĀ on many occasions. Based on these, a new render has been sketched digitally. Compared to the Bolt or Indica, the Kite gets a fresher design. It does not look like the Indica right away, as is the case with Bolt.

2016 Tata Kite

Launch of Tata Kite is expected to take place later this year, or early next year.

Interiors are also expected to be similar to Tata Bolt, but the level of quality and features might not match. Expect features like bluetooth connectivity, climate control, steering mounted controls, etc to be only offered with top-end variant.

Tata Kite hatchback is expected to share its petrol engine with Zest and Bolt. This will be in the form of company’s 1.2l four cylinder Revotron engine, which generates 90 PS power and 140 Nm torque on Bolt and Zest. It is not certain if it will deliver same power on board the Kite hatchback. This is because Kite hatchback will be tuned more for efficiency, rather than performance.

The diesel engine will be in the form of a completely new 1.05 liter three cylinder engine, capable of 71.6 PS of power and 140 Nm of torque. Transmission options will be in the form of manual as well as AMT.

To be positioned between Tata Nano and Bolt, the soon to be launched Tata Kite hatchback, is expected to be priced between INR 3.9 lakhs and INR 4.5 lakhs.
