Speaking to Economic Times, R Ramakrishnan, Commercial Vehicle Business Unit Senior VP, Product Strategy and Planning, Tata Motors, revealed that the company will launch a new people carrying CV model based on the popular ACE platform. To be called as the Tata Magic Mantra, the vehicle will essentially be a more powerful variant of the existing Tata Magic which has crossed 3 lakh sales.
The official also revealed that the Magic Mantra’s 800 cc twin-cylinder diesel engine will be tuned to deliver 40 hp of power which is more than double of what the current Magic is outputting (16 hp). It’s to be noted that the company has recently launched the Ace Mega 1 tonne LCV with the same 40 hp engine.
The 40 hp Magic Mantra is a result of customer feedback. The product caters to last mile public transport operators who are looking for a vehicle which can travel longer distance, climb better and run faster.
Just like its load carrying sister, the Magic Mantra is expected to feature beefed up suspension system and an improved braking system with 7-inch vacuum booster.
