Tata Nexon production crosses 10,000 units in 4 months

Tata Motors announced today that their new compact SUV, Nexon has crossed the 10,000 units production mark.


Launched in the sub 4-meter SUV segment, Tata Nexon compact SUV entered production on 20th July this year. Today, Tata Motors announced that the production has crossed 10,000 units mark. The 10,000th Nexon was produced at the Tata-Fiat plant in Ranjangaon near Pune.

The new Tata Nexon takes on the likes of new Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the Ford EcoSport. It is aggressively priced from Rs 5.95 lakhs to Rs 9.56 lakhs, ex-showroom.

New Tata Nexon has been designed on Tata Motors’s IMPACT design philosophy, on which Tiago and Tigor has been designed. To feature a 2+3 seating arrangement, Nexon will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options.

The Tata NEXON is a short form of “NEXT-ON” which signifies the inspiration of NEXON from next level of things.

Engine options on offer are – a 1.2 liter turbocharged Revotron petrol engine and a 1.5 liter diesel engine option. The petrol engine 1.2 liter 3 cyl will deliver 110 PS @ 5000 rpm and 170 Nm @ 2000-4000 rpm while the 1.5 liter 4 cyl diesel will deliver 110 PS @ 3750 rpm and 260 Nm @ 1500-2750 rpm. Both engines will are mated to a 6 MT. AMT variants are to be launched next year.

New Tata Nexon is made for India. Exteriors feature a mesh grille, new bumper design, circular headlamps, customization options for body kit and contrasting color options for body and roof.

Tata Nexon also receives a host of comfort and connectivity features as is seen on board the new Tiago. One of the highlight is the standalone touchscreen infotainment system powered by Tata’s ConnectNext platform. It also gets a Harman Kardon music system.
