Tata Nexon SUV launched in Sri Lanka – Price range Rs 9 to 20 lakhs

Earlier this month Tata Motors celebrated the production of 50,000th unit of their Nexon SUV. Launched last year in India, the compact SUV has been enjoying good sales in the country. Thanks to the popularity, Tata Motors has now launched the car in India’s neighbouring country, Sri Lanka.

Tata Nexon in Sri Lanka is priced from 19.9 lakh Sri Lankan Rupees, which is about Rs 9 lakhs in India. The top end diesel XZA+ variant is priced at Rs 46 lakhs in local currency (Rs 20 lakh in India). The car will be sold via their distributor Diesel & Motors Engineering PLC (DIMO), who has a network of 15 dealers in the country.

Offered as a CBU, the Tata Nexon for Sri Lanka is imported from India. It is available in 6 trims, same as that on offer in India. Manual as well as AMT options are on offer. Colour options on offer are 6 – same as India. Petrol engine is in the form of 1.2 liter 3 cylinder, while diesel engine is 1.5 liter 3 cylinder. Both engines are rated at 110 PS.

Tata Motors has seen sales in the UV segment is growing at a staggering pace. Tata Motors owes this success to the new IMPACT Design language, powerful engines, feature rich interiors and best in class safety.

Tata Nexon contributed almost half of Tata Motor UV sales in FY17-18. In just 7 months of launch, the sales of the Nexon equaled to combined sales of the Safari Storme, Hexa, Sumo and Xenon. Out of a total of 51,891 UVs sold in fiscal 2018, Nexon contributed 27,747 units allowing Tata Motors to become the fourth largest car maker in FY18. On an average the company sells 4,000 units of Nexon each month.

Tata Motors has plans to boost sales further with the Harrier H5X SUV – set to arrive in Jan 2019. The H5X is designed using the IMPACT Design 2.0 language. Later this year (around Diwali) Tata Tiago JTP and Tata Tigor JTP are planned for launch.
