Discounts are usually offered at the end of the year by automakers – to clear stocks from company showrooms ahead of welcoming in the New Year model range. But, its Feb 2019 now, and discounts are still being offered.
The reason being – 2018 was difficult year for passenger car industry, especially the second half. Almost every major car maker either registered decline in sales, or posted flat sales.
This has left a lot of dealers with unsold stocks. Now, Tata Motors dealers across India re offering exciting discounts to clear the 2018 stock. The range of cars which are on offer with discount are Bolt, Zest, Sumo, Safari, Nexon, Hexa, Nano, Tiago, Tiago NRG, and Tigor. Along with exchange offer and freebies, the total discount value goes over Rs 1 lakh in some cases.
Speaking about the Tiago, on sale since 2016, the Tiago hatchback competes with the Maruti Suzuki WagonR and Santro. It is the best selling Tata car today. It gets its power via a 1.2 liter petrol and 1.05 liter diesel engine offering 85 hp and 70 hp respectively and mated to a 5 speed MT while the petrol engine also gets a 5 speed AT. Tata Tigor sub compact sedan, which is priced from Rs.5.42-7.51 lakhs, is being offered at a discount which can be availed across all of its 9 variants.
Tata Tigor received it mid-life facelift last year. It recently got new safety feature as standard along with Corner Stability Control. Tata Tigor, which competes with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and Honda Amaze, saw sales dip in the month of December 2018 to 1,751 units while sales figures for November 2018 were at 2,157 units.
Tata Motors is not only offering discounts on its Tiago hatchback and Tigor sub compact sedan but the February 2019 discounts also extend to the Nexon compact SUV. The Nexon, which gained a 5 Star rating at the Global NCAP. Nexon sales remain constant month after month, hovering over an average of 4,000 units each month from October 2017 to December 2018 with sale in December 2018 at 4,393 units and November 2018 sales at 4,224 units.
Tata Motors is also offering discount on the Hexa SUV MY 2018 stocks. It may be recalled that Tata Hexa SUV prices were hiked in the month of January 2019 by Rs.42,000 on the base variant and Rs.20,000 across all other variants. This price increase saw the base variant at Rs.12.99 lakhs while the top end variant is now priced at Rs.18.16 lakhs. Tata Hexa December 2018 sales stood at 682 units, an increase over sales in November 2018 which stood at 487 units.
