Tata Tigor AMT variants launched in India

Noting increased importance for automatic cars in the country, Tata Motors has introduced the Tata Tigor AMT for its XTA and XZA variants. Offered only in petrol variants, the two AMT units are sourced from Magneti Marellias is also seen on the Tiago AMT.

Tata Tigor Styleback AMT offered in two variants XTA and XZA, powered by a Revotron 1.2L petrol engine, are priced at INR 5.75 lakhs and INR 6.22 lakhs respectively. This is an increase of around INR 40,000 over their respective manual transmission versions. They are on display at company showrooms across the country and will take on the Maruti Suzuki Dzire AMT, Ford Aspire Automatic and Hyundai Xcent AT.

Tata Tigor AMT variants are powered by a 1.2 liter Revotron petrol engine offering 84 bhp peak power and 114 Nm peak torque. The AMT unit from Magneti Marelli is a 5 speed unit that also powers the Tiago AMT and is offered with Automatic, Neutral and Reverse options and Manual and Sports modes.

A novel feature seen on the Tigor AMT that is not on offer with the Tiago AMT is the built in creep feature that allows the car to crawl when pressure is released off the brake pedal without pressing accelerator. This makes driving in heavy traffic more efficient and also while parking. It also prevents the car from rolling back when it starts from an inclined position.

Tata Tigor XTA is offered with full wheel covers over its 14″ wheels, four speakers with navigation and Bluetooth connectivity for smartphones, steering mounted audio controls and safety features among which are ABS, EBD, 2 airbags and rear parking sensors. Tigor XZA is offered with a 5.0″ touchscreen infotainment system with 4 speakers and 2 tweeters. It gets 15” alloy wheels, reverse camera and automatic climate control.
