The latest car from Tata Motors, new Zica hatchback, is set for launch in the second week of January 2016. With this upcoming hatchback, which takes its name from the term “ZIppy CAr”, Tata Motors expects to attract the attention of a younger and more adventurous set of buyers for whom infotainment, technology, looks and performance take precedence when it comes to purchasing a new car.
Tata Zica gets an innovative new design, which is unlike any other Tata car till date. It was designed at the company’s design studios in UK, Italy and India.

Tata Zica is developed under company’s HorizonNEXT campaign, taking into consideration customer’s demands, with inputs from Jaguar Land Rover as well. Tata Zica promises not only an exterior and interior design that instantly garners the attention of Gen Z buyers but also infotainment system that include applications like Turn-by-Turn Navi app, Juke Car app which are being offered for the first time in this segment.
Tata Zica Turn-by-Turn Navi app is connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth, offering detailed information where time of arrival and next maneuver is concerned. The system also supports volume control, steering mounted infotainment and phonebook on-the-fly.
Apart from this, there is also the Juke Car app – which uses WiFi enabled mobile hotspots to create a virtual network of upto 10 mobile phones. All of which can now play songs form their mobile phone through the car’s stereo system.
For music lovers, Tata Zica sports an audio system powered by HARMAN which has 4 speakers and 4 tweeters; giving a best in class music experience.

Speaking about engines, it gets new 1.2 liter Revotron petrol three cylinder engine and new 1.2 liter Revotorq 1.2 liter three cylinder diesel engine. The petrol engine is rated at 85 PS and 114 Nm torque while the diesel engine delivers 70 PS and 140 nm torque.

Apart from making a world class car, Tata Motors has also updated their dealer and service network – under the able leadership of S N Barman, Vice-President, Sales and Network (PSVU), Tata Motors; who was previously working with Maruti Suzuki for 23 years. Tata Motors says that their dealerships and service centers will be as good as their Japanese counterparts (Maruti Suzuki and Honda). The aim is to make Zica best in its segment.
To be produced from Tata Motors’ plant in Sanand, Zica is expected to be priced in the range of INR 3.8 – 6 lakh. Main rivals of Tata Zica are Maruti Celerio, Maruti WagonR and Hyundai i10.
