In what is testimony to trying times, bike manufacturers are dealing with noticeable sales decline. Of the top 10 motorcycles sold in August 2019, 9 posted sales decline. The lone entry in the green zone posted sales growth of less than a single percent. Hero Splendor has lost about 35k is sales volume. Down 13.87 percent to 2,12,839 units from 2,47,116 units sold in Aug ’18. However, Hero could cheer its MoM sales growth of 18.97 percent, up from 1,78,907 units sold in July 2019.

Hero covets second spot on the list with its HF Deluxe at sales decline of 12.44 percent. Sales is down to 1,60,864 units from 1,83,716 units sold a year earlier. MoM sales decline stands at 5.17 percent, down from 1,69,632 units sold the month earlier.

Honda CB Shine has lost its 1 lakh sales units count. 10 percent decline has seen volume contract to 87,434 units from 1,08,790 units sold a year earlier. MoM sales decline is reported at 7.53 percent, down from 94,559 units sold the month earlier.

Bajaj Pulsar is the lone bike series that’s managed a stable sales outcome at 0.73 percent growth. Sales volume is reported at 70,562, up from 70,051 units sold in August 2018. MoM sales growth stands at 12.96 percent, up from 62,469 units sold in July 2019. ??Hero Glamour takes 5th spot on the list with 60,706 units sold. Down 18.07 percent from 74,097 units sold in Aug ’18. MoM sales decline stands at 14.69 percent, down from 71,160 units sold the month before.

Bajaj takes the next two spots. Bajaj Platina comes in 6th, and Bajaj CT 100, 7th on the list. Platina sales decline is marginal at 2.5 percent. Down to 44,774 units from 45,921 units. CT 100 sales have almost halved t 48.34 percent sales decline. Sales volume has contracted to 42,578 units, down from 82,424 units sold in Aug ’18. Platina MoM sales decline is reported at 14.7 percent, down from 52,489 units sold in July 2019. CT 100 MoM sales is up 7.17 percent from 39,728 units sold a month earlier.

Hero Passion sits on 8th spot despite having literally lost half its sales volume. At 50.22 percent sales decline, volumes have dwindled to 41,157 units, down from 82,681 units sold in August 2018. MoM sales decline stands at 5.25 percent, down from 43,439 units sold in July 2019.

TVS Apache series sales is down 32.87 percent to 26,402 units sold in August 2019, down from 39,330 units sold in August 2018. MoM sales growth is reported at 5.21 percent, up from 25,094 units sold the month earlier.

Honda CB Unicorn tales final spot on the list at 23,440 units sold. That’s 8.58 percent decline from 25,639 units sold a year earlier. MoM sales decline of 17.03 units means sales has fallen from 28,250 units sold in July of 2019.

In all, the top 10 motorcycles have collectively lost 19.69 percent in volumes. Sales is down to 7,70,756 units, down from 9,59,765 units sold in August 2018. MoM sales is more or less stable in the ongoing slowdown at .66 percent sales growth, up from 7,65,727 units sold in July 2019.
