A total of 12 Maruti Suzuki cars featured in the list of top 20 cars sold in India in the past month, with 7 of them ranking in the top 10 list. Maruti Suzuki Alto, Swift DZire, WagonR, Swift and Baleno were seen in top 5 positions allowing the company to command a 2% increase in market share despite demonetization growing to 52.2% with YoY growth of 14.1%.
23,320 units of Alto were sold in the past month as against 21,995 units sold in November 2015. Swift DZire sales decreased marginally from 18,826 units in November 2015 to 17,218 units in the past month even as the model continued to command a second spot. 15,566 units of WagonR were sold last month, an increase of 11% as compared to 13,986 units sold in November 2015. Swift sales increased 23% from 11,859 units sold in November 2015 to 14,594 units sold last month.
Sales of Maruti Suzuki Baleno also increased substantially from 9,074 units in November 2015 to 11,093 units in November 2016 while sales of Vitara Brezza and Celerio which featured at No. 7 and 8 stood at 9,719 units and 9,543 units respectively. Maruti Suzuki Omni, Eeco, Ciaz and Ertiga also featured in the list of top 20 best selling cars in November 2016 even as sales dipped following demonetization. Sales of these four models stood at 6,698 units, 5,540 units, 5,433 units and 5,413 units respectively.
Hyundai i10 Grand at No. 6 spot on the list of best selling cars in November 2016 saw reduced demand by 14%. 12,899 units were sold in November 2015 while sales went down to 11,059 units in the past month. Hyundai 102 Elite+ Active, at No. 9, also saw sales dip 11% from 10,074 units sold in November 2015 to 8,917 units in November 2016 while Hyundai Creta, at No. 11, noted sales increase by 17% from 5,837 units sold in November 2015 to 6,822 units sold in the past month.
Renault Kwid commanded a No. 10 spot on the list of top 20 cars sold in November 2016 with a 43% increase in sales. The company sold a total of 6,822 units of Renault Kwid in November 2016 as compared to 5,837 units sold in November 2015.
Tata Motors entered the list with the new Tiago at No.13, of which the company sold 6,008 units in the past month while Mahindra Bolero featured at No. 18. Bolero sales dipped 28% from 6,875 units sold in November 2015 to 4,939 units sold in the past month. Toyota Innova Crysta and Ford EcoSport came in at No. 19 and 20 on the list of top 20 cars sold in November 2016. Innova Crysta sales increased 25% from 3,944 units sold in November 2015 to 4,934 units sold in the past month. Ford EcoSport sales increased 13% from 3,617 units sold in November 2015 to 4,092 units sold in November 2016.
