Toyota Innova Crysta, Glanza, Fortuner, Yaris – Sales Feb 2020

Toyota Innova Crysta contributed over 50 percent to total sales with 5,459 units sold in the past month

Toyota’s sales in the domestic market were down 12 per cent, at 10,352 vehicles in Feb 2020, as against 11,760 units sold during the same month in February 2019. Toyota Glanza, Innova Crysta, Yaris, Fortuner, Camry and Vellfire each added some numbers to total sales of 10,352 units sold in February 2020.

However, it can be noted from the accompanying table that it was the Innova Crysta that contributed to over 50 percent of total sales with 5,459 units sold in the past month. Total sales of Toyota Kirloskar Motors stood at 10,352 units, down 12 percent as against 11,760 units sold in February 2019. The company’s exports saw a considerable growth of 27 per cent, at 1,004 units, as against 737 units exported in February 2019.

Company’s models such as the Liva + Cross, Etios, Corolla, Prius, Prado and Land Cruiser failed to find any buyers in the past month. The Etios and Liva will be discontinued from April 2020 following the mandatory BS6 emission norms coming into effect.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno re-badged Glanza amassed sales to the extent of 2,710 units and following this model doing well, the company now plans the rebadged Ertiga as the next product of the partnership. Toyota Yaris sales scaled past the 350 units sold in February 2019 to 542 units sold in the past month, up 55 percent while Camry sales were up 117 percent to 89 units.

Toyota Vellfire, the self charging hybrid electric MPV, launched in India in February 2020 at Rs.79.50 lakhs, has seen sales of 42 units and is sold out till April 2020. The Vellfire which stands 4,935mm long, 1,850mm wide and 1,895mm high, with a 3,000mm wheelbase comes in powered by a 2.5 liter petrol engine with two electric motors mounted on each axle and offering 143hp front and 68 hp rear. The Vellfire is ARAI rated at fuel efficiency of 16.35 kmpl. It competes with the Mercedes Benz S Class Marco Polo in the luxury MPV segment.

The company has also announced that they have completed the transition to BS6 emission standards and have started dispatching BS6 compliant variants to customers well ahead of the deadline of 1st April 2020. A total of 31,853 BS6 models have been dispatched to dealerships to date. These are being offered at introductory prices, so as not to pass on the full increase of BS6 to customers in one go.
