Toyota Innova Hycross VX (O) is positioned between VX and ZX variants and offered in 7 and 8 seater options
Toyota Innova Hycross was launched in India in December 2022. It was offered in five trims – G, GX, VX, ZX and ZX (O), but now the company has added one more variant VX(O) to this lineup. The new Hycross VX(O) is positioned between the VX and ZX trims.
It is offered in 7 and 8 seater configurations and is priced at Rs 26.73 lakh and Rs 26.78 lakh respectively (ex-showroom). This makes it about Rs 2 lakhs more than the VX variant and Rs 3 lakhs less than top of the line ZX (O) trim. These prices are following a recent price hike that the company resorted to in March 2023.
Toyota Hycross VX (O) – Features
Toyota has added a few features to the VX(O) that are not on offer on the VX trim. These include a panoramic sunroof, shark fin antenna, LED headlamps with DRL parking lamps and fog lamps in the front. Take a look at the walkaround video shared by The Car Show, in which the VX (O) variant is compared side by side with the ZX variant.
VX(O) variant also gets a front parking camera and turn indicators on ORVMs while the sides are dominated by crease lines, hybrid badging and 17 inch alloy wheels with a silver finish. Chrome door and window lining, body coloured door handles, keyless entry, rear wiper and washer and LED tail lamps along with 4 parking sensors are also a part of its exterior makeup.
Colour options remain the same and the Innova Hycross VX(O) is offered in Blackish Ageha Glass Flake, Sparkling Black Pearl Crystal Shine, Attitude Black Mica, Silver Metallic, Avant-garde Bronze Metallic, Platinum White Pearl and Super White. The interiors of Toyota Hycross VX(O) are done up in a black and brown colour scheme. It gets leather padding on doors and power windows though the driver seat gets manual height adjustment. The steering wheel is with tilt and telescopic adjustment.
It also sports a 10 inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, steering mounted controls, fully automatic climate control, mood lighting and a total of 6 airbags with side and curtain airbags. Safety features include ABS, EBD, hill start assist, vehicle stability control etc. However, it still misses out on ADAS which is exclusively offered on the top spec ZX(O) variant.
It also misses out on some features seen on the ZX(O) trim among which are power adjustable driver seat, ventilated front seats and powered second row seats. It also does not receive a 9 speaker JBL premium audio system. Tailgate on the VX(O) is also manually operated unlike the automatic opening facility available on the ZX(O).
Engine and Gearbox Options
The Innova Hycross draws power via a 2.0 liter naturally aspirated petrol engine offering 172 hp power or a 2.0 liter strong hybrid engine capable of 184 hp peak power. The engines get mated to automatic gearbox for the naturally aspirated engine while the strong hybrid gets an e-Drive transmission. Fuel efficiency is claimed at 16.13 km/l and 23.24 km/l respectively.
Like its other variants, the Toyota Hycross VX(O) continues to rival other 3 row SUVs such as the Mahindra XUV700 and Scorpio N, MG Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar and Tata Safari. Toyota had recently halted bookings for the Innova Hycross Hybrid ZX and ZX (O) as waiting period currently touches 2.5 years in some cases.
