Toyota Raize is a new sub-compact SUV which will be launched today, but ahead of that, all the details of the new car has been leaked. Toyota Raize is the production version of the Daihatsu DN Trec concept showcased at the 2017 Osaka Motor Show. Toyota Raize is positioned on a DNGA platform which is a more affordable option as compared to Toyota’s advanced TNGA modular architecture. This DNGA platform is especially suited for Asian markets.
Toyota Raize sub compact SUV will stand 3,995mm in length, 1,695mm in width and 1,620mm in height. The wheelbase stands at 2,525 mm and it will get a boot of 369 liters in dual level storage with the second level located below the floor. When put into perspective, with the wheelbase at 2,525mm, the Toyota Raize will be longer than Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Hyundai Venue.
Raize is seen with a large trapezoidal front grille in a mesh design. It sports LED head lamps with DRLs, fog lamps and wrap around tail lamps which also could get LED treatment. It gets minimal chrome on its exterior and sits on 17” diamond cut alloy wheels. There is also a floating D pillar, a prominent bumper with thick cladding at the bottom and roof rails.
The interiors of Toyota Raize receive brushed aluminum on its dashboard, on AC vents and 3 spoke steering wheel. It also gets a driver centric central console, a free standing 8.0” touchscreen infotainment system and comfortable seating. Toyota Raize interiors sport an all black treatment accentuated by silver inserts on AC vents, interior door grab handles and on the central console.
Toyota Raize will be powered by a 1.0 liter, 3 cylinder, 12 valve, turbo petrol engine offering 98 bhp power at 6,000 rpm and 140.2 Nm torque at 2,400-4,000 rpm mated to a CVT unit. At a later stage, a 6 speed manual could be added. Fuel efficiency is expected at 18.6 kmpl where the 2WD variants are concerned going down to 17.4 kmpl for 4WD option.
Toyota Raize is offered in four variants of X, XS, G and Z. Each of these offerings is with 2WD and 4WD options and priced accordingly. The 2WD options start from 1,679,000 yen (Rs 10.94 lakhs) for the X variant, 1,745,000 yen (Rs 11.13 lakhs) for the XS and at 1,895,000 yen (Rs 12.35 lakhs) for the G trim. The top of the line Z variant is priced at 2,060,000 yen (Rs 13.42 lakhs).
Toyota Raize 4WD prices are from 1,918,800 yen (Rs 12.5 lakhs) for the X trim, 1,984,800 yen (Rs 12.93 lakhs) for the XS variant and at 2,133,700 yen (Rs 13.9 lakhs) for the G variant. The top of the line Z trim is priced at 2,282,200 yen (Rs 14.87 lakhs).
Toyota Raize will also be sold as Daihatsu Rocky in select markets where Toyota is not present. The SUV is made for emerging markets of Asia. Toyota India has not confirmed if we will be getting the Raize or not. Below are the detailed photos of Raize SUV ahead of launch.
