Just like the TVS Apache 200 and the Apache 160, Race Edition now comes to the ageing Apache 180 as well. Race Edition has been introduced to keep the ageing products in contention. The Apache 180 has been soldiering on without any significant update as the company is working on the next gen model which is likely to adopt naked street fighter body style.
In addition to the attractive paint job, the motorcycle also gets decals on the tank extension and belly pan. It also gets 3D logo and TVS Racing stickers. There are no other visible cosmetic changes on the new edition.
The Apache 180 is powered by a 177.4 cc single-cylinder engine which is capable of 17.03 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 15.5 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The RTR 160’s 159.7 cc engine produces 15.2 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 13.1 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. Both bikes employ a 5-speed transmission. Be it Race Edition of standard, engine specs remain same.
Underpinned by a double cradle chassis, the Apache RTR 180 employs telescopic forks upfront and gas charged coil springs at the rear. The motorcycle is retarded by disc brakes at both ends. The 17-inch wheels come shod with 90/90 x 17 (front) and 110/80 x 17 (rear).
The TVS Apache RTR 180 Race Edition is priced at Rs 83,233 (ex-showroom Delhi). It does not get ABS.
