The TVS Apache RTR 200 is in the final stages of testing and is reported to be launched on January 20. By introducing the flagship Apache before February, TVS is clearing the Auto Expo stage for the BMW G 310 R and its Indian counterpart.
The eagerly expected RTR 200 was previewed by the Draken concept at the 2014 Auto Expo. Though the final production version looks less menacing, it derives its primary design elements from the concept. Salient design features include a minimal headlamp, a fully digital instrument console, muscular fuel tank with sharp extensions, heavily contoured seat, split grab rail, LED taillight and an interesting exhaust muffler.
The powertrain details are still under wraps but the 200 cc air-cum-oil-cooled FI motor is estimated to be more powerful than the KTM Duke 200’s mill. Transmission however would be a 5-speed unit. The TVS Apache RTR 200 will be aiming to out perform its primary rival in every aspect.
The bike is suspended by telescopic front fork and rear monoshock. Braking is courtesy of single petal disc at each wheel. The top-end variant will benefit from dual-channel ABS.
The new TVS Apache RTR 200 would be significantly undercutting the Duke 200 which is priced at INR 1.38 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
